Fourerr has Olympics Fever!

Wow. What a bloomin’ marvellous Olympics we are having so far! With an epic opening ceremony (the Queen and James Bond, need I say more?) more than 256 medals won already, and over 42 records broken, it is definitely shaping up to be an exciting couple of weeks.

Legends have returned to show that they can still perform even under pressure from their hopeful nations, and newcomers have emerged as truly great athletes….and it’s only Day 6!!

Just think of the amount of exciting events still to come!

Now, I know I’m biased as a Team GB supporter but it’s really quite impressive that the British are doing so well on their home soil, and that is mostly in part due to the incredible support all athletes are receiving from the home fans.

But, in the name of sportsmanship, all fans and athletes alike are proving to be very supportive of one another and all competitors are giving it their all (we won’t mention the match throwing in the badminton – tut tut!).

What I’m trying to say is, there is a lesson to be learnt here and it is the Olympic values, not just the events themselves, which makes this event so inspiring.

With Michael Phelps being constantly dubbed the ‘greatest Olympian of all time’ with his incredible 19 Olympic medals, and with anticipation building as fresh young talent such as the 16 year old Chinese swimmer Ye Shiwen reach incredible goals, it got me thinking. We can all do it too – and help each other out along the way!

Of course, you might not be able to swim the 100m butterfly at lightning speed or finish an Equestrian dressage with complete precision, but the Olympics is all about people achieving what they can by supporting each other and working hard.

London 2012 – Going For Gold!

What an exciting summer of sport we are having! With some enthralling games of football during the Euros, some great grand slams at Wimbledon and now with the Olympics and Paralympics imminent, we are undoubtedly in for some great sporting achievements over the coming weeks…

Fourerr Olympic Games - London 2012

With so many athletes and sports personalities reaching the peaks of their sporting careers and reaching their goals, it got me thinking about Fourerr and how hard each of us tries to work hard and reach our goal of becoming the “ultimate freelancer”.

So what we need to do is think of our Fourerr selling experience as running in the Olympics – you can’t just go into it – a lot of preparation and effort is involved, but with hard work and determination you will soon be standing on the podium receiving your medal! Those latest features and changes on Fourerr will give you head start.

1) Ready…

Think of the first stage as your athletic training; you need to prepare yourself for your work. Fourerr is a great place to display, showcase and profit from your talents, but it is only worthwhile if you are willing to put in a bit of time creating a great profile and some gigs that others will love. Don’t make silly mistakes on your profile, and don’t assume that you won’t do well – a negative attitude has never been the key to success!

2) Set…

Treat every sale of a gig with respect – without these sales, you wouldn’t be getting anywhere. Thank the buyers that purchase your gigs – this takes literally seconds to do, and could be the difference between a buyer returning to you to make further purchases or the buyer going elsewhere. 3) Go!

Seek out your buyers, if they are looking for a job similar to yours in the “Request Gigs” box, then offer up your services by sending them a message. Tell your friends and family about your gig on Fourerr and get your name out there as an online seller, and of course, use social networking sites to reach out to larger numbers of people. By making the effort to promote yourself, you are giving your gig a much higher chance of being noticed by a wider audience, therefore increasing your chances of making sales and really establishing yourself online as a freelancer – i.e. getting the gold!

OK, so I may have gone a little over the top with the Olympics/athletics/racing metaphors in this post, but the message is still there:

A New Year; A Fresh Start!

Happy New Year - 2012

Many people think of New Year’s Eve and they are just thinking about which parties they are going to attend, what to wear, how much to drink and whether they’ll be kissing anyone at midnight. But when it comes to work, the truth is that the New Year is a great time to do something new and start afresh.

The first day of January might not seem the best time to start working, after all, most people will be nursing their hangovers well into the afternoon. However, this is the best time for you to set up a type of ‘business plan’ for the coming year.

Even if you don’t see yourself as the business type, if you are selling gigs on Fourerr, you are clearly interested in making money. If your gigs from 2011 haven’t sold very well, then maybe it’s time to come up with some new ones. Think of the types of skills that you have and go from there…

On the other hand, if your gigs sold really well last year then continuing with the reputation you have already created for yourself seems like the sensible option. To develop your work further however, you need to start thinking about how you can offer more.

Think back through the year – have any buyers contacted you and asked you whether you could provide a different service to the ones that you are offering? If you are offering PLR (Private Label Rights) articles and you got more than one message from prospective buyers during the year asking if you write original articles, then create a gig offering original articles!

Similarly, if you are offering to sing songs by a particular artist, offer gigs that opens this up to ANY song in the world! Or if you are an impressionist, offer more impressions than you did in 2011. The more you offer, and the more diverse your gigs are, the more likely you are to get sales and therefore make money.

So get thinking about what the New Year can bring for you; more clients, more contacts, and even more prosperity!
