7 Things you might not know about Me, owner of Fourerr

Micro jobs sites like Fourerr are becoming increasingly popular, and with the surge of people turning to micro jobs for outsourcing projects or earning an extra income, it makes sense to tell you a little about myself. My name’s Thomas De Vos and I’m the CEO of Fourerr.com. Let me introduce myself to you, the Fourerr community so that you can put a face to the name! So here it is, some things you probably won’t know about me, my work and my overall vision for the future of Fourerr.

Thomas De Vos, on Safari

1) I’ve won an Award …

I’ve done a lot of programming in my time and have even received an award for ‘Website of the Year’ in 2000 by Vauxhall and the Belgium National Television. The website was called http://www.rijbewijs.be but this is no longer active in 2012.

2) I’m an Online Business Owner

…and have been since 2001. I take particular interest in educational sites and have had several online businesses over the years. Apart from this I have been doing a lot of consultancy work for UK based financial institutions.

3) I Love Triathlon

I’m a fitness fanatic; I love the triathlon and will be competing in my first Full Ironman in Lanzarote in May. For those of you who don’t know, Ironman is a competitive triathlon event with a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile (marathon) run…back to back without a break! It is one of the harshest physical challenges out there, but I love it because triathlon is all about dedication, self motivation and determination. Aiming beyond your own limits and discovering that human beings can achieve more than imaginable inspires me to stretch my own limits and aspirations, not only in the sport but also in everyday life.

4) I’m a Family Man

I have 4 children and have been married to my wife Shereen since August 2000 and I love her more than ever. She is truly my rock, and someone I can rely on every single day of the year, every minute of the day. She is totally amazing. Without her, Fourerr wouldn’t be where it is today. Thanks Sweetheart, if you are reading this.

5) I Love Skiing

I think that we have established with the “I love triathlon” section that I love physical activities, but I find skiing and being in the mountains truly exhilarating. It makes me feel free and like I can conquer the world. Being out all day on the slopes and then returning to a chalet with a drink of hot chocolate milk (yes, milk!) is very refreshing for body and mind. The mountains, the white canvas of snow beneath a deep blue sky is the most beautiful thing on the planet which I could easily stare at for hours.

Java Cakes - delicious

6) I love Jaffa Cakes

Everyone has a weakness, and mine is Jaffa Cakes.  I’ll be honest with you; a full packet never survives longer than two minutes when I’m around!

7) My Vision for Fourerr

I want to be able to bring together two types of people; Buyers and Sellers provide them with a friendly platform so that they can benefit from each other’s skills and knowledge. My personal aim for Fourerr is about being the best in customer support and truly show that support by communicating with our Fourerr community and beyond. Not just a short term promise, I want Fourerr to provide myself and all of its users with a healthy, supportive and prosperous long term relationship.

If you are doing something special, or have a certain lifestyle, or are dedicated about your own projects here on Fourerr or off line then share it with us in the comment section.

Cheers, have a great day, and please share this post!

5 Things you Must do after Receiving a Gig Order

Receiving an order, whether it is your 1st or 100th, is a big deal – every $4 is precious and can help you pay those bills. So if you want to guarantee a successful transaction, just follow these 5 simple steps.

1) Fully Understand the Task

Let’s say you are offering data entry as your gig. Data entry is a simple task, but may need to be done in a specific way. Rather than do the job and send it back to the buyer with uncertainty, ask the buyer before you start the job for clarification. Similarly, if you are offering image editing gigs, you might want to establish what your buyer wants before you get to work. It’ll save you time and it’ll mean you get great feedback every time!

2) Work Hard

Your gig may take you seconds to put together, or it might take half an hour. Regardless of the time you spend, make sure that the quality of your delivery is of the highest standard. Each gig order should be treated with equal attention to detail. Doing research for the article you are writing/ delivering a video without errors/ giving reliable advice about backlinking is all part and parcel of delivering a high quality gig.

3) Check Thoroughly

Buyers come to Fourerr to get great value gigs for low prices, so you want to be able to offer them something that they can’t get elsewhere, and at a fraction of the price! This means ensuring files, documents, and software that you send to your buyer is working. Proofread documents you write, double check your data entries, and make sure that you have reached your buyer’s requirements and they are sure to come back for more.

Thank you for shopping at Fourerr

Thank you for placing an order

4) Thank your Buyer

A “thank you” can go a long way, and the difference between thanking your buyer and not thanking them can be the difference between getting a repeat gig order or not. Repeat orders make some sellers the most of their money, and when a buyer has found a reliable and friendly seller to outsource work to, they will keep coming back for the same high quality and courteous service. Even if your gig is in high demand and you think that writing personalised messages takes up too much of your valued time, then be prepared to say “bye-bye” to that buyer – they will go elsewhere to find someone who is grateful for their custom. Similarly, a public acknowledgment of good feedback is a great way of showing potential buyers how professional and friendly you are.

5) Send a Follow-Up Message

Don’t just forget about your buyers. They are important to you for generating income and they may need your help somewhere down the line. Remind them about the quality of work that you delivered for them by sending them a friendly “reminder” message to show you are willing to work for them again. It will show your professional attitude towards your work and buyers will appreciate your initiative to contact them.
